Kim is the program’s Volunteer Director and Jan will be assisting the Ranch in their quest to secure funds to create a sustainable, net zero energy sanctuary for the more than 31 big cats, horses, an arctic fox and other rescued animals who have called the Catty Shack Ranch their home for more than 25 years. Anyone wishing to join Kim and Jan in this wonderful effort during the “Year of the Tiger” may call Jan’s office to learn more.

Our mission is to celebrate and support the spirit of green buildings, and to salute the courage of the design, development and construction professionals who make green buildings possible!

To assist in the development of more than $200 million in grants, loans and donations for green buildings by 2012.


Our Background:

Jan McAdams is an alumna of UC Davis with more than 35 years experience in all aspects of grantwriting, funder cultivation and project management. She has provided consulting services to more than 200 nonprofit and 28 for-profit clients since 1975 and is responsible for securing more than $67 million through grants and sponsor development.

Jan has 20 years experience conducting grant writing and business development workshops throughout the U.S.; 630 seminars to more than 4,800 aspiring grant writers. (Sponsored by major universities including the University of Nevada, Reno, University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the University of California, Davis).

Jan McAdams maintains a professional relationship with major Federal and State funding sources including: Department of Energy, HUD, EPA & Health and Human Services.

Her interest in sustainable construction started in 1996 when she was selected by the "Interstate Renewable Energy Council" to be Nevada's delegate to the "Powering Neighborhoods with Solar Power" train-the trainer programs, co-sponsored by the Department of Energy.

She is the Publisher/Editor of the "Funding Green Buildings Toolkit." (Formerly "The Energywi$e Construction Funding Directory for Green Buildings" (2001-2010 Editions.) The 150-page directory listing all major grants, construction material donations and low interest loan resources for energy-efficient commercial and public buildings. (The only available comprehensive resource of this type for green buildings.)

Since 1998, Jan McAdams has provided funding research and fundraising consultation services to more than 30 green building projects throughout the United States.

Since 2000, Jan has conducted 55 "Funding Green Buildings" workshops and in-service trainings to more than 1,700 attendees. She is responsible for securing more than $44 million in cash and non-cash resources for commercial green building projects through the U.S.

Jan has cultivated a relationship with more than 20 major green-related, EPA Star manufacturers, (“Jan’s Preferred Vendors”) all of whom have offered to donate 50-100% of their materials to green buildings that are producing educational materials that feature the manufacturers' products. (Please note--the green products/manufacturers are selected after construction documents are produced in order to honor the building!)
